I had it every possible way but it’s the slow-cooked stews with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that delighted me, especially the tongue! And of course, it’s ALWAYS served with rice, the primary food of the island.

Tackling the Tsingy of Bemaraha National Park in w Tackling the Tsingy of Bemaraha National Park in western Madagascar is an adventure you won’t forget. The surrealist landscape of jagged, serrated limestones pinnacles that rise hundreds of meters into the air is simply otherworldly.

Meaning “Where one cannot walk barefoot”, the tsingy offers an incredible though challenging exploration of its stone forest for those without vertigo 🙈. The 5-6 hour hike involves climbing up and down between the pinnacles through a via ferrata and crawling and squeezing through caves and tight spaces… After the 10+ hours it takes to get here through bumpy dirt roads and river crossings, might as well go all the way?
